Bio

Mailyne K. Briggs (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker and writer creating with multimedia, found materials and live performance art.

She’s performed at Ottawa’s Chinatown Remixed and the Museum of Nature, “Nature Nocturne -Lunar New Year.” Her work has been featured in Living Hyphen 2.2 Healing Across Generations, Pique Winter 2023, Ottawa Design Club Zine Issue 0005, Mercado Vicente, Bitter Melanin and more. She is a published author for a bilingual children's book she wrote and illustrated titled Manok / Chicken.

Working with her cycles, Mailyne pulls inspiration from inner reflection, nature, wonder and lived experiences. As an artist Mailyne strives to understand her own ancestry while navigating her place as an immigrant and member of the Filipinx diaspora. Although she uses art primarily as a form of therapy, she understands it’s power to be a vehicle for important messages and often intertwines themes surrounding social and environmental justice, identity struggles, and the concept of “home.”
