Welcome. This is my corner of the internet - a place that continues to evolve, just like I do. A sort of slow transformation, somewhere that I can place all the parts of myself that make me who I am. I'm, at my core, an artist.
Whether it's my business or my craft, I strive to constantly improve. I’ve spent 15 years in the film and media industry producing various stories—from CBC documentaries to creatively directing 360 digital marketing strategies for non-profits like the IEEE-GRSS. I've been an activist, co-founded three different non-profits, launched multiple businesses, cultivated others dreams, all while being a mom. While I still nurtured my artist self, I also subscribed to hustle culture and 80 hour work weeks, partially because I was the sole provider for my son, but partially because I believed that hustle was the path to success.
Now in my 40's, success looks different. I recognize that I've been running at a pace that is unsustainable and it's led me to feeling burnt out and depleted. Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of what I've accomplished and I love what I do. As someone who has been in the trenches of a livestream or on a film set I am no stranger to quick paced decision making, but there's a difference between actual urgency and a fabricated one. Maybe it's the perimenopause, maybe it's because I've been living on my own since thirteen, maybe it's life in general, but I'm tired.
I'm leaning away from the hustle and building a sustainable creative life, unhurried.
My work is rooted in Hinay—a Filipino philosophy of "little by little." A non-rushed approached to life, moving with intention and care. As an artist writing personal stories inspired by the complexities of the human experience and driven by love, I know that whether it's a book I'm writing or a film I'm producing or a business I'm launching, I create mindfully. In my business, I work with organizations and artists who value something meaningful, something collaborative, guided by mutual respect and understanding rather than urgency.
My best ideas come in moments of solitude, working with my natural cycles and rhythms. I know that whatever I set out to do, I'll get it done no matter how long it takes.
Hinay-hinay basta kanunay.
